We loved seeing all of our Baker friends at the Halloween Parade this morning! Everyone looked great!!
Our 3F buddies came to visit us in 1D. Our buddies read us their Haiku poems they wrote about fall! Then we got to make up our own Haiku poems with our buddies. We had so much fun!We continued our unit on maps by studying the similarities and differences between our classroom map and globe. Great observations, 1-D!
We read the book "It Looks Like Spilt Milk" by Charles G. Shaw. In this book Mr Shaw talked about how spilt milk look like a lot of different things other than spilt milk. We got to make our own spilt milk paintings! Here are some examples from 1-D.Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming two of Brookline's finest firefighters! They led us in a discussion about fire safety including how to properly crawl under smoke and how to STOP - DROP - and ROLL. Our own Ms. Doherty even got a chance to model firefighters safety gear! What is your plan in case of an emergency in your house?
We have been learning about coins in math this week. We know that a penny is worth 1 cent and a nickel is worth 5 cents. Today, we played a game called Racing Nickels. Students roll the dice and put that number of pennies on their board. Once they have at least 5 pennies, they can make an even trade for a nickel. The first person to get 10 nickels is the winner!
In Writing Workshop, we reread our stories to see where we could add some inside thoughts to our writing. Inside thoughts are thoughts that went through our own heads when our small moment was happening. |
