In Handwriting we perfected our Center Starting Capital letters. We practiced forming letters that start in the center of the box such as O, J, A, and G!
During Word Study today we played some fun review games! We worked on putting our letters in alphabetical order. Then our partner would take away a letter and we would guess what letter was missing! Tomorrow we will learn three new letters to add to our pocket chart.
Today we added a new choice to our "Daily Three" in math! We are using story boards- 1-D students create a math story that their partner must act out with the story board. Then, they write their number sentence out. Great problem solving this morning, 1-D!
Yesterday, we acted out story problems in order to create a number sentence for our addition or subtraction problems. For example, 3 students were at our class library then 2 more arrived. How many students are standing by our library now?
Today we practiced how to give silent reminders to friends that may be distracting us when we are reading. We continued to build our stamina by reading for 12 minutes today!
This afternoon, we used a fancy new science tool - called a jeweler's loupe - to continue to make observations on our mystery seed! What new observations did you notice today, 1D?
This morning, we attended an Anti-Bullying Assembly. 1D listened intently as some of our older Baker friends acted out one of our favorite books, One. We will remember throughout the year to never bully, speak up to an adult if we see any bullying, and to practice our policy of kindness! Way to go, 1D!
In math today we got to learn and practice different games to do 'Math by Myself' or 'Math with Someone'! .
Today in Reading Workshop we learned how to retell ourselves a story after we finished reading a book. We continued to build our stamina by reading for 7 and a half minutes without giving up or getting tired! Our goal is 20 minutes!
